This beautiful young man, after a photograph by Bannister and Johnson, is one of the Tjimba who are traditionally hunter-gatherers. They are more stocky and have broader features than the culturally and linguistically closely tied Himba. Both were driven from their lands in the 1920's by the Nama and have since returned but to mostly different economic circumstances. The now called ovaHimba becoming wealthy cattle owners and the Tjimba remaining the hunter-gatherers. Part of the series "The Tourist Corps”.
