Portrait of Cyrus Nganga Kabiru of Kenya, Nairobi and his unusual eye wear. I just really love his eclectic use of found objects and almost silly, whimsical yet enormously interesting Steam punk type designs. His face was one of those I knew I just had to express myself in, to show the beauty, strength and simplicity of idea with maximal impact”. In the series colour plays an important role in my vision. The red is strength, my own, the person I'm painting, the emotions in everything that exists. The Prussian blue is the darkness that everything possesses; white its balance and the ochres: the earth and the connectivity we all have to this one world. His fine wire work and his own sharp features allowed me to paint this with more angular lines and sharper brush strokes.
